I don't have a very precise definition for these, but of all the genres and tunes made by the so-called rock-n-roll bands, these are my favorites for having the kind of driving rhythm and synchronization that makes a nearly-perfect rock song. Drive would be my keyword here.

Sonic Youth - Teenage Riot (following the intro)
Rolling Stones - She's So Cold
    Rod Stewart - Hot Legs
Robert Palmer - Addicted To Love
    R.E.M. - Radio Free Europe
Ramones - I Just Wanna Have Something To Do
Police - De Do Do Do De Da Da Da
    New Order - Ceremony
Love - Seven And Seven Is
    Le Tigre - TKO
Ladytron - Destroy Everything You Touch
    Joy Division - Disorder
Johnny Thunders - Get Off The Phone
    INXS - The One Thing
Iggy and the Stooges - Raw Power
Greg Kihn Band - Breakup Song
Go-Go's - We Got The Beat
    Germs - Forming
    Elastica - Annie
    David Bowie - Suffragette City
    Clash - Janie Jones
Bruce Springsteen - Dancing In The Dark
Billy Squire - Everybody Wants You
    Billy Idol - White Wedding
    Belly - Slow Dog

Interesting lists and some great artists / tracks listed. Mine might be a bit "different" but, if you're not familiar with a few of them, I'd say it's worth checking Spotify (or similar) to have a listen (well, I would, wouldn't I?)

Audioslave - Show me how to live
    Black Sabbath - Paranoid
Dixie Dregs - Take it off the top
Doris Brendel - The devil closed the door on me
Dr Feelgood - She does it right
Flying Colors - Shoulda coulda woulda
Graham Parker and the Rumour - Don't ask me questions
    Heart - Beautiful Broken
    Jack White - Sixteen saltines
    Jimi Hendrix - Crosstown Traffic
    Joe Bonamassa - Mountain Climbing
    Johnny Marr - Easy Money
    KXM - Rescue Me
    Max Webster - Check
No Doubt - Excuse Me Mr

i just love the variety within everyones lists, very cool. well if we're doing 'driving rythyms', then its 'pick your stones song' for me. they dont call keith richards 'the human riff' for nothin'! my personal favorite of theirs is Bitch, but their live version of Let it Rock, well thats pretty 'drivin'.i,ll also go with:
D&D: Why Does Love Gotta be Soooo Sad
    Almans: Whippin Post
    Zep: Whole Lotta Love
    Thunders: Chatterbox
    Who: Punk vs Godfather
    now dig this! London Calling
    Lou: Heroin
    Patti Smith: Horses Horses Horses
    Doors: Soft Parade
jeez, i cant keep doin this, its an all day project!
